How it works

Four steps from stranger to standing Saturday

Playdate is deliberately slow where it matters — verification and consent — and fast everywhere else.

1. Create your account

Sign up with Google or Facebook, then connect your phone number. We text you a six-digit code so we know a real person is behind every profile.

  • Google and Facebook sign-in supported
  • Phone number confirmed by SMS code
  • One adult account per family member

2. Verify who you are

Tap Verify Now on your profile to complete a government-ID check through our identity partner. Verified parents get a badge and full access to connect.

  • Government ID and selfie match
  • Handled by a specialist identity provider
  • We never store your ID document

3. Build your village

Add the parents you already know from your phone contacts or Facebook friends, then send invites. Connections only form when both parents accept.

  • Import suggestions from contacts or Facebook
  • Invite by phone number or email
  • Every connection is mutual-consent

4. Plan real playdates

Propose a time and a place, invite a few families, and get a confirmed plan. Fewer messages, more Saturdays at the park.

  • Shared availability, not endless threads
  • Local parks and family venues built in
  • Reminders so nobody flakes

And when you need an answer at 2am

Playdate's AI guidance is trained on pediatric and child-development sources and tuned to be calm, practical, and honest about when to call your doctor.
