Safety & Trust
Trust isn't a feature. It's the whole product.
Playdate asks parents to introduce their children to other families. That only works if safety comes first, out loud, and in writing.
Identity verification
Every adult confirms a phone number by SMS and can complete a government-ID check through our identity partner. Verified profiles carry a badge.
Mutual consent
No one is added to your village without accepting. Either parent can remove a connection at any time, and removal is immediate.
Children are never users
Kids do not get accounts. We collect an age range and an optional first name — never a birthdate, school, or precise location.
Location, kept fuzzy
You share a neighborhood, not an address. Precise locations are only ever shared inside a confirmed plan you opted into.
Reporting and moderation
Report any profile, message, or post in two taps. Community groups are moderated by real people with published standards.
Data you can take back
Export or delete your account and content whenever you want. We do not sell personal information.
What we ask of you
Verification reduces risk; it does not remove it. Playdate is a tool for meeting other families, and your judgment still matters most.
- Meet new families in public places for the first few visits.
- Stay with your child until you know the other parent well.
- Share only what you're comfortable with — photos and details are always optional.
- Report anything that feels off. We review every report from a real human.
Now Playdate, Inc., does not conduct
- A criminal-background check
- Sex-offender registry screening
- Professional-license verification
- Child-safety vetting
- Employment screening
- Credit or insurance eligibility screening
Urgent safety concerns: contact local emergency services first, then email [email protected].
